Jim Davies

Professor, Department of Cognitive Science

Dr. Jim Davies is a Professor in the
Department of Cognitive Science at Carleton
University, where he has won awards for his
teaching and research.

As director of the Science of Imagination
Laboratory, he explores processes of
imagination in humans and machines. His
work has shown how people use visual
thinking to solve problems, and how they
visualize imagined situations and worlds.

Prof. Davies is the author of over 50
peer-reviewed publications, as well as several
popular science books. He also co-hosts the
award-winning Minding the Brain podcast.
In his spare time, he is a published poet, an
internationally-produced playwright, a game
designer, and a professional painter and
calligrapher.
