FASS High Five Spotlight
Kim Mitchell, Undergraduate Administrator, Department of Sociology and Anthropology
Kim has been a dedicated employee of Carleton University for an astounding 50 years. Through decades of work in higher education she has seen a great deal of change and has embraced it whole-heartedly. She keeps meticulous records to ensure students are correctly advised from initial registration through to graduation and encourages students to make informed decisions about their education and future. Kim has an open door, no appointment necessary, welcoming attitude towards student visits and she often receives visits from alumni of our programs just to catch up and reminisce. Kim has a wonderful personality and positive, professional attitude towards our work environment. It is hard to imagine the Department without Kim’s presence, but after 40 years in her current role, she is set to begin her well-earned retirement this spring. Her legacy will long be linked to Sociology and Anthropology’s reputation as a student-centred environment, and her mentorship of countless employees will impact the Carleton community for years to come.
