Please join us in congratulating Dr. Nael Bhanji, who has been awarded the Mary McEwan Memorial Award at York University. Nael is a professor at the Pauline Jewett Institute of Women’s and Gender Studies, and is the 2018-19 Visiting scholar in Sexuality Studies at the Centre for Feminist Research at York University. His work focuses on connections of necropolitics, racialization, surveillance and counter-terrorism, drawn from critical race theory, trans studies, affect theory and psychoanalysis.
He is currently working on a publication entitled “Trans Necrointimacies: Race and the Chalky Affects of Trans Memorialization”.
