Sana Majjanne, Bachelor of Science Honours Major in Food Science

Do you have a favourite memory from your classes/program?

In general, most of my third-year and fourth-year classes were full of memories. My Food science colleagues are more like a small family to me. We were always sharing thoughts, opinions, and advice with each other. Also, our professors have taught us how to learn from each other besides learning from them. So, our classes were full of interesting discussions and activities. But my most favorite memory is when we were baking bread at the food chemistry lab. It was very interesting how each type of flour turned into a completely different type of bread. And to be honest, it was extremely hard to resist tasting them!

Do you have any advice for new Food Science students?

My absolute advice is not to feel shy to ask for help, always talk to your professors and discuss different methods to improve your learning skills. This will also help you understand better what the professors are expecting from you in their courses.

What are your future plans?

My main interest is in dentistry school now, but I would also love to do a master’s degree in nutrition and functional medicine as well and start a small nutrition-related business.
