Purpose: Carleton University and CAE are accepting proposals for projects supporting the development of green aviation technologies and procedures (see Terms and Conditions). Actions have been undertaken by both organizations to address the challenges associated with climate change and sustainability. In 2020, CAE became carbon neutral by reducing its emissions and investing in projects that offset its residual annual carbon emissions and Carleton University has released a Comprehensive Sustainability Plan for 2020-2025[1]. In support of these efforts, projects must address at least one of the research themes below[2]:

Carleton and CAE are each contributing up to $30,000.
CAE is considered as the industry partner for this funding opportunity. The industry portion of the grant is encouraged to be leveraged with other funding programs such as the NSERC Alliance and Mitacs Accelerate.

- Expenses

Expenses must be eligible under Tri-Agency Guidelines for Use of Grants and can include the following:
- Project activities (e.g., conferences, workshops, events, forums, ) and products (e.g., digital resources, database, adaptation of texts, policy briefs, etc.)
- Stipends to postdoctoral fellows and students
- Salaries of technical and professional staff
- Speaker travel and accommodations
- Materials, supplies, and services, including technical services
- Open access publication costs
Expenses that are NOT eligible include the following:
- Traditional scholarly publication costs (book, journal article, ), except open access publication costs
- Teaching Release
- Collection or preparation of material primarily intended for personal classroom needs or teaching purposes
- Purchase of equipment
- Technology transfer costs (e.g., patent filing)
- Alcoholic beverages
- Evaluation Criteria

- Clarity and presentation of the activity(ies) for adjudication by a joint CAE-CU committee
- Appropriateness of intended stakeholders/users and feasibility of engagement through the proposed activity(ies), e., strategies to ensure engagement
- Potential of anticipated outcomes and impacts within and outside of academia
- Potential for enhancing the visibility/profile of the researcher and Carleton University
- Quality of the HQP mentoring and training
- Soundness of the budget

Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Results
Applications will undergo a joint-review adjudication process. Results can be expected approximately 2-3 weeks of the submission end date.
