Every October 9th, South Korea celebrates Hangeul Day, a public holiday dedicated to the Korean alphabet!
Hangul was created in 1443 by King Sejong the Great and his scholars to help make reading and writing easier for everyday people. Before the invention of Hangeul, literacy was limited because only classical Chinese characters were used. Unique as a writing system, Hangeul is scientifically designed, simple to learn, and deeply tied to Korean identity.
So join us as we celebrate this ingenious writing system!

Events:
- Voting for the Hangeul t-shirt design contest
- Kimbap making
- Hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) try-on
- Poetry reciting in Korean
