Mandarin Chinese Conversation Group Organizer

Hello everyone! I’m Maggie, and I’m going into my third year as a Computer Science student at Carleton. 

I grew up in Toronto, so moving to Ottawa for university was definitely a nice change of pace as someone who likes quieter places. My family immigrated from China to Canada when I was 7 months old, but thanks to my parents, I have spoken Chinese my whole life. While I have the spoken fluency of someone who is native, there is still much for me to improve in my reading and writing skills, and I believe there is always more for me to learn in that aspect. Regardless, I’m really excited to be able to start this conversation group and be able to offer a space where anyone can practice or learn to speak Mandarin!

A little fun fact about me, I wanted to have prettier handwriting, so I practiced Chinese Calligraphy for a year. I’ve also traveled to many beautiful places in China, so if you ever want to discuss anything about the places I’ve been to, I am always down to chat!
