Why do you think it's important to study a language?(Required)

There are lots of “practical” reasons to study a language: future jobs, travel, or to satisfy a degree requirement. But there are also lots of other reasons like: it’s fun and interesting, I enjoy it, it allows me to connect with other people…like a grandparent or the person sitting next to me on the bus, it gives me a new way to think about the world. So, why do you think it’s important to study a language?
