Marlys Jordan

Marlys has worked in the not-for-profit world for 18 years. Prior to that, she spent 23 years in the private sector. Today, she serves as the CEO of Calgary Heritage Housing. This organization houses low-to-moderate income, functionally-independent seniors in subsidized, government-owned buildings.

Marlys has grown this Housing Management Body from four to nine buildings with a total of 480 suites. In late 2023, the organization successfully introduced a charitable arm (Calgary Heritage Housing Foundation), and as CEO of that organization as well, has begun fundraising for programs/services and development of additional affordable housing stock. She’s well on her way to achieving her long-term goal of growing Calgary Heritage Housing to 1,000+ doors in support of its mandate to house vulnerable seniors.

Professional development has been a cornerstone of Marlys’ career. She understands that advancing her knowledge and skills in philanthropy and fundraising not only positions her for impactful leadership but also addresses a critical gap in Alberta’s seniors housing sector. Pursuing her MPNL degree at Carleton University has been transformative, allowing her to bridge the academic insights she’s gained with her extensive practical experience. This unique blend of theory and practice deepens her expertise and solidifies a foundation that will always remain hers—a lifelong asset that enhances her ability to drive meaningful change.
