Phil Nichols, Student

Phil Nichols is a dedicated advocate for animal welfare and has shaped his career around enhancing community animal welfare. After graduating from Seneca Polytechnic, he began his career as a Registered Veterinary Technician at Toronto Humane Society and continued through various roles, from RVT to management to CEO. He also joined the Board of the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians, serving as President.
Phil’s approach to animal welfare is influenced by his own life experiences, which taught him resilience and deepened
his bond with animals, who always provide him with support and companionship. His journey instilled a strong belief about the importance of accessible, proactive care and support for guardians.
His leadership has been instrumental in launching several initiatives focused on holistic approaches to animal welfare, including significant expansion of Toronto Humane Society’s Public Veterinary and Support services, now supporting more than 30,000 guardians and animals annually.
As he joins the 2024 MPNL cohort, Phil is eager to expand his influence in philanthropy and nonprofit leadership, focusing on sustainable practices and policies that will support animal and community welfare through a One Health approach.
