Carleton Biology Butterfly Show to Celebrate 20th Anniversary
The popular Biology Butterfly Show returns to Carleton University this fall, as it celebrates 20 years of sharing science and beautiful butterflies with the community. Hosted by the Department of Biology, the nine-day show features 1,300 exotic butterflies representing 41 different species from around the world.
Some butterflies love to land on colourful clothing, others will climb onto an outstretched hand. Everyone is invited to visit Carleton’s greenhouses.
There will be an advance media day on Friday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by a pre-show event open to media and invited guests from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Representatives from the Carleton University Biology Society and Let’s Talk Science will be on hand at the pre-show to answer questions.
When: Saturday, Oct. 5, to Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019. The exhibit will be open each day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Greenhouses, Nesbitt Biology Building, Carleton University
Info: For directions, please see the campus map.
More than 1,000 Ottawa-area students and 10,000 visitors dropped by the greenhouse for last year’s Butterfly Show.
Admission is free; however donations are welcome and can be made at the event or online.
