Dr. Güven Şeker

Dr. Güven Şeker is an adjunct professor at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, where he has been teaching since July 2021 through a distance working program. With 16 years of distinguished service in the Police Department in Turkey, he has accumulated extensive experience in policing, criminology, cybercrime, migration, and rights, with a particular focus on urban and environmental relations from a law and public administration perspective.
During his career, Dr. Güven Şeker held significant responsibilities, including lecturing at the Police Vocational School and providing in-service training on various aspects of policing. His commitment to professional development extended to leading seminars and workshops on migration rights and human rights in collaboration with UNHCR, Bar Associations, and other NGOs, where he focused on capacity-building programs to enhance the understanding of migration rights.
An accomplished scholar, Dr. Güven Şeker holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration and has authored several articles on policing and related subjects. His international expertise was further solidified through his role as Chief of Regional Training Officer with the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS), where his skills and competencies were rigorously assessed and recognized.
Throughout his career, Dr. Güven Şeker has actively engaged in national and international projects, including contributing to a twinning project to establish an Asylum and Country of Origin IT System. His multidisciplinary background and strategic insight into policing and public administration make him a valuable asset to the academic community at NPSIA.
