Joe Landry holds a PhD in International Conflict Management and Resolution from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University. Joe has over fifteen years of experience working in international policy and recently completed a diplomatic posting at Canada’s High Commission to Bangladesh. Currently he is Senior Policy Research Analyst at Global Affairs Canada, specializing in the global trends, geopolitical analysis and the future of diplomacy. Previously he worked as Senior Analyst in the Peace and Stabilization Operations, leading the development of Canada’s strategy for engagement in fragile and conflict-affected states as well as Canada’s signature initiatives for its potential UNSC term.
Joe has demonstrated excellence in quantitative and qualitative research, having won the Joseph-Armand Bombardier SSHRC PhD Scholarship along with more than a dozen other academic awards. Joe has published over 25 peer-reviewed academic journal articles and book chapters and was named as a fellow at the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies. He was Managing Editor of the Canadian Foreign Policy Journal for more than five years, and has over six years of international work experience having lived in Tanzania, Australia, South Korea, Vietnam and Bangladesh.
