Wesley’s research interests are in the areas of international security and Canadian foreign policy. His dissertation pertains to geoeconomics and Chinese economic statecraft with a focus on how middle power states respond to geoeconomic competition through a cross-case comparison of Canada and Australia. Wesley’s other work and reserach pertains to the AUKUS trilateral security pact, Canada-US relations, and NATO and UN peacekeeping operations. Wesley also has a research interest in the Canadian Armed Forces, and he has worked at National Defence for the past several years.
