Clinical Preceptor – NURS 2200 Clinical Practicum IV

The School of Nursing at Carleton University is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RN or RPN) to serve as Clinical Preceptors for NURS 2200: Clinical Practicum IV.
Under the coordination of the Associate Director, Clinical and Clinical Facilitator, Clinical Preceptors provide supervision, mentorship, and support to groups of undergraduate nursing students as they begin developing foundational nursing knowledge, clinical skills, professional communication, and safe, person-centered care in a clinical setting.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervise and mentor nursing students during scheduled clinical placements.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and evaluation of student performance.
- Promote evidence-informed practice, professionalism, and ethical nursing care.
- Collaborate with Carleton University faculty, staff and clinical partners to support student learning.
Qualifications:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Minimum of three years of recent clinical nursing experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to student learning, mentorship, and professional practice.
- Previous teaching or preceptorship experience is considered an asset.
- Preference to RNs or RPNs with experience working at Queensway Carleton Hospital or The Royal Ottawa Mental Health
