Basic Life Support (BLS) Courses
The Carleton University Simulation Collaborative (CUSC) offers Basic Life Support (BLS) training for students, healthcare professionals, and community members seeking certification or renewal.
Our courses are the Heart and Stroke BLS curricullum and provide participants with the knowledge and hands-on skills required to respond confidently in emergency situations. Training includes high-quality CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED) use, and team-based emergency response techniques. Particpants who pass the course recieve a Heart and Stroke Foundation certification.
BLS Full Course
The BLS Full Course is designed for individuals who have not previously completed a CPR or BLS certification course.
Course Details
- Duration: 5 hours
- Start Time: 10:00 a.m. (participants should arrive 15 minutes early)
- Cost: $60 (includes BLS manual)
- Registration through the Heart & Stroke Portal is required

BLS Renewal Course
The BLS Renewal Course is intended for individuals who have successfully completed a full BLS course within the previous 12 months and require recertification.
Course Details
- Duration: 3 hours
- Start Time: 9:00 a.m. (participants should arrive 15 minutes early)
- Cost: $45
- Registration through the Heart & Stroke Portal is required
