Ontario launching new Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Carleton University
The Government of Ontario announced the establishment of a new Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Carleton University, marking the first new university nursing program in Ontario in nearly 20 years.

Carleton University welcomed its first cohort of nursing students in September 2025. By 2029, the program is expected to prepare up to 110 nursing graduates to become registered nurses, with a goal of increasing annual enrolment to more than 200 students by 2030.
Carleton’s nursing program is delivered in collaboration with Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH), where students gain hands-on clinical experience and practical training. In January 2026, the program’s Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre, located at Carleton’s Kanata campus, officially opened and began supporting nursing education and training.

The establishment of Carleton University’s nursing program will help prepare the next generation of nursing professionals and contribute to strengthening the health-care workforce in Ontario and across Canada.
