July 4, 2022

To all members of the Carleton community,

As we prepare for a full return to a regular in-person fall 2022 term, we wanted to remind everyone of the COVID-19 measures that are currently in place.

Reduce your Risk
It is important to remember that the pandemic is not over. The situation can change at any time and, as we have seen, the risk of new variants and outbreaks is very real. We ask that you remain vigilant and continue to take a number of actions to reduce your risks.

Stay Home if Unwell
Remaining vigilant and not coming to campus when sick or with symptoms is critically important. If you are feeling unwell, please stay home and follow the regular illness/symptom reporting process.

Masks
Masks are no longer mandatory in university buildings and facilities. However, we continue to recommend masking when indoors, particularly if physical distancing cannot be maintained. We are aware that personal preferences regarding optional mask use will vary greatly, and we ask that we all show consideration and care for each other during this transition. Please note that as health care facilities, Health and Counselling Services and the Sports Medicine Clinic will continue to require masks at this time.

Vaccination Requirements
Proof of vaccination is no longer required to access campus or participate in in-person Carleton activities. However, it may become necessary to bring back proof of vaccination requirements on short notice if the situation and public health advice changes. Everyone must attest to their vaccination status and if vaccinated, upload proof of vaccination and subsequent booster doses in cuScreen.

We strongly recommend that all members of the Carleton community get a full course of vaccination, including booster doses as soon as they are eligible, and submit their booster dose information in cuScreen as soon as possible.

Tunnel Access
Following the installation of new exhaust fans and air handling units throughout the entire tunnel system, general access to the tunnels has resumed for all members of our community.

Signage – NEW
COVID-19 signage, which was implemented to support safety measures and regulations, will be removed throughout July and August. Priority will be given to building and tunnel entrances. At this time, QR location code signage will remain in place should we be required to re-implement this in the future. Departments are responsible for removing signage from their spaces and more information will be provided shortly to the departments. We appreciate your patience as we work to remove the signage from public and common spaces across campus.

As has been the case throughout the pandemic, we will continue to adjust our plans as required to ensure everyone’s health and safety and to comply with public health advice or any applicable legal requirements, including reinstating the mask mandate and creating additional signage. Any questions you may have that are not answered by Carleton’s COVID-19 information website and its FAQ section should be forwarded to covidinfo@carleton.ca.

I wish everyone a restful summer and hope you are all able to enjoy some well-deserved time off.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Blanchard
COVID-19 Lead
