Kurkimaki Appointed Director of Government Relations at HEXO Corp.
Laura Kurkimaki, MPM/12, has been appointed director of government relations at HEXO Corp. HEXO is a recreational cannabis company that trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Its subsidiary, Hydropothecary, is a medical cannabis company that received its licence in 2013.
Laura graduated from Carleton with her MPM in 2012, making her a member of the first political management graduate class in Canada. She then worked as an issues manager in the Prime Minister’s Office, before moving to Hill+Knowlton Strategies, where she was a senior consultant and then an account director.
Laura credits the MPM program with helping launch her career: “MPM helped me develop the skills required to execute a strong communications and government relations campaign for both my current company and former clients.”
