Jacob brings a penchant for creative energy, big ideas, and a genuine love of helping others to his roles as Acting Director, Policy & Government Relations for the Canadian Housing and Renewal Association, and Public Affairs Lead at Julie & Co.
Building on his formal education in political management, he has built a career out of working with businesses and other organizations committed to building stronger, more inclusive communities. As an advocate and not-for-profit executive, Jacob has demonstrated significant success developing and implementing advocacy strategies, running grassroots campaigns, forming, and communicating policy recommendations, and creating compelling content and programs.
In his role with CHRA, Jacob acts as senior policy, advocacy, and content lead. He is pivotal in working with government, private, and non-profit partners to disseminate knowledge, bolster innovation in the housing sector, and work toward a future in which all Canadians have safe and affordable homes of their own. At Julie & Co., Jacob leads the organization’s public affairs team, supporting social enterprises and not-for-profit organizations committed to building stronger, more inclusive communities.
In addition to a Master’s in Political Management, Jacob holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Applied Politics from Wilfrid Laurier University. He also holds a Diploma in Federalism and Governance from the University of Innsbruck and EURAC Research. The personification of chutzpah, he can be found hiking, sipping a good bourbon, and telling bad jokes in his spare time—often all at once.
“The MPM program imbues students with the skills and confidence to competently navigate political processes and institutions, whether they are working on the Hill, in public affairs, or another related field. The program also provides a strong, supportive alumni network that is dedicated to seeing fellow MPMers succeed in their careers.” – Jacob Gorenkoff
