Policy Advisor to Canada's Minister of Natural Resources

Yasmine Atassi is currently a policy advisor to Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson. She advises on Indigenous reconciliation (e.g. UNDRIP), nuclear energy and youth in climate, along other policy areas. She first joined the office in 2021 as an intern admitted through the Liberal Party’s Summer Leadership Program with then Minister of Natural Resources, the Honourable Seamus O’Regan.Yasmine was born and raised in Saudi Arabia and moved to Ottawa in 2016 to pursue a BA in Communication and Media Studies with a minor in Political Science from Carleton University before moving on to pursue her Master’s in Political Management.Yasmine founded the Arab Students League in 2018 and is currently the president of the Ottawa chapter of Zero Food Waste Canada. She was also a delegate at the 2021 Equal Voice Daughters of the Vote Program.
