In December 2020, the Dominion-Chalmers United Church community arranged for the transfer of its significant archival collection to Carleton University’s Corporate Records and Archives. The donation of the archival material continued the collaboration between church community and the university to preserve the history of Dominion-Chalmers, not just the physical building but also the place of the church in Ottawa’s history.
The Dominion-Chalmers United Church fonds covers governance and management and community and congregation programming of the current church as well as some material referencing its predecessors: Dominion Methodist Church, Bank Street Canada Presbyterian Church, Chalmers Presbyterian Church, and Dominion Methodist Church. The fonds consists of minutes, annual reports, correspondence, financial records, histories, newsletters, photographs, and audio recordings. These materials are organized under ten main series:
- Church Governance
- Session
- Dominion-Chalmers Board of Trustees
- Music
- Community Service
- Ministers
- Sermons
- Members and Membership
- Publications and Communications
- Church Objects and Photographs
The United Church Women fonds, also donated in 2020, is a stand-alone archival collection in order preserve documentation of the work of that organization.
The DCUC Archives is being made searchable through the Carleton Corporate Archives online database. New series listings are being added regularly so it is recommended that researchers contact the Corporate Records and Archives team directly with inquiries.
