A Critical Conversation 2025:
Values and Ethics in the Regulatory Context
On Monday, June 2, 2025, the Regulatory Governance Initiative hosted a Critical Conversation event to explore the values and ethics dilemmas faced by regulators at each stage of the regulatory process to identify principles/guidelines that inform best practice. The underlying thesis was that regulators face new challenges in an ever-evolving world, and that organizations with the capacity to address values and ethics dilemmas in a timely manner will have a competitive advantage over those that do not. The conversation engaged a broad spectrum of policy actors, including policymakers, regulatory managers and academics in a balanced, structured dialogue.
