My background is in economics where I studied applied economics as my undergrad and subsequently continued on to do my master’s in economics — both at Queen’s University. My academic background drives my passion for combining economics with social and technical knowledge, which is sometimes overlooked in pure economics. This is why I joined the PhD program in Public Policy, as it is interdisciplinary and allows for many different approaches to analyzing policies and problems.
My research focus is on the aviation industry which is also a passion of mine outside of academics. In my spare time, you can find me flying small aircraft or enjoying the outdoors!
After a few years of working in the aviation industry, I chose to go back to school, which led me to Carleton’s PhD in Public Policy. Carleton’s SPPA has a wide range of highly regarded faculty in different policy fields and is in the heart of Canada. The School is well-known among the policy community and has lived up to its expectations.
From my experience in graduate school, I have learned it can get really busy and it is easy to get narrow-focused when focusing on your own research. It is a great idea to make connections with your cohort and other students as most graduate students can relate to each other, and socializing can be a nice break from your studies.
