As part of our celebration of 80 years of Public Administration, we will be sharing Research Summaries highlighting some of SPPA’s broad-ranging research.  Below is this month’s Research summary.

Community Perspectives on Inuit Country Food Insecurity in Gjoa Haven, Nunavut

Country food – referring to traditional Inuit food – is deeply enrooted in Inuit cultures and way of life. However, unlike store-bought consumables, country food accessibility introduces unique challenges conventional policies do not answer adequately. In their recent publication Community Perspectives on Inuit Country Food Insecurity in Gjoa Haven, Nunavut, SPPA Professor Stephan Schott, SPPA Postdoctoral Fellow Jacqueline Chapman, and MPPA graduate Jamie Desautels conducted focus groups in Nunavut for three years to develop informed recommendations to tackle food security and sovereignty challenges.
