New Publication by SPPA Professor Nathan Grasse
We’re excited to share a new publication by SPPA Professor Nathan Grasse, co-authored with Kevin D. Ward and Jesse Lecy, in the Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly!
Their article, “Examining the Association Between State Lobbying Regulations and Nonprofit Lobbying Expenditures,” investigates how varying state-level lobbying regulations influence nonprofit organizations’ lobbying activities. The study reveals that in states with more stringent lobbying regulations, nonprofits tend to reduce direct legislative lobbying expenditures while increasing grassroots lobbying efforts. This shift highlights how regulatory environments can shape the advocacy strategies of nonprofit organizations, which play a crucial role in representing community interests.
This research offers valuable insights for policymakers, nonprofit leaders, and scholars interested in the dynamics between regulation and nonprofit advocacy.
