MPPA Learning Outcomes

MPPA Learning Outcomes Survey – 2025

All post-secondary programs in Ontario are required to assess whether their learning outcomes are met. As part of the assessment of the MPPA learning outcomes, we are asking you to reflect on which courses addressed which learning outcomes. The survey should take approximately 15 minutes. Consider the nine (9) MPPA Learning Outcomes listed below. Please select the courses you feel addressed each outcome.

Learning Outcome # 1

Understand and value the principles of democratic governance, ethical public service, and diversity, equity and inclusion.(Required)

Learning Outcome # 2

Critique, weigh, and apply quantitative and qualitative evidence, and a range of research methodologies, disciplines, and epistemologies when designing, implementing, and evaluating public policies and administrative practices.(Required)

Learning Outcome # 3

Develop and deliver clear and persuasive written and oral analysis and arguments to diverse audiences in formats and styles suitable to a career in policy making.(Required)

Learning Outcome # 4

Synthesize and apply a diverse range of theories of public policy, governance, and management, and apply them in practice when addressing public policy challenges and decision-making processes.(Required)

Learning Outcome # 5

Critically appraise, and effectively and ethically use, modern tools and practices in their work.(Required)

Learning Outcome # 6

Lead and contribute to inclusive, collaborative, and effective teams.(Required)

Learning Outcome # 7

Analyze, critique, and compare the institutions, processes, politics, and policy frameworks of international, federal, provincial/territorial, municipal, and Indigenous governments and organizations, and apply this knowledge to design and implement policy solutions.(Required)

Learning Outcome # 8

Responsibly and respectfully engage and learn from a variety of government stakeholders, public service users, the general public, Indigenous rightsholders, and other orders of government.(Required)

Learning Outcome # 9

Understand the existential challenges and crises facing humanity, including climate change and inequality, and contribute to the search for policy responses to them.(Required)
