Specialization in Climate Change
Data science is the next frontier of information technology. Students who are interested in understanding how to anClimate change is one of society’s most urgent challenges, necessitating profound transitions across societal systems of production and consumption. Students seeking to engage more deeply with this challenge and the role policy can play in addressing it can apply to the Specialization in Climate Change when submitting their application to the MPPA.
MPPA students in the Climate Change Specialization are required to take the same 9 core courses as other MPPA students. In the place of the 5 electives in the MPPA, they are required to take:
- CLIM 5000 [1.0] – Climate collaboration
- Two 0.5 electives among:
- PADM 5510 [0.5] Energy Economics
- PADM 5511 [0.5] Energy Management
- PADM 5512 [0.5] International Politics of Sustainable Energy
- PADM 5515 [0.5] Sustainable Energy Policy
- PADM 5572 [0.5] Policy Seminar (Sustainable Energy)
- PADM 5612 [0.5 credit] Industrial Policy, Innovation and Sustainable Production
- PADM 5614 [0.5] Natural Resource Management
- PADM 5615 [0.5] Politics and Policy of Energy in Canada
- PADM 5616 [0.5] Environmental Policy
- PADM 5618 [0.5] Environmental and Ecological Economics
- PADM 5619 [0.5 credit] Urban Sustainability
- PADM 5620 [0.5] The Science, Politics and Economics of Global Climate Change
- Electives associated to Climate Change taken outside MPPA (approval required)
- A free 0.5 elective (approval required for courses external to MPPA)
- Attend the Climate Seminar Series to successfully complete CLIM 5800 [0.0]

It is more complicated to organize a timetable for students in the Climate Change Specialization because CLIM 5000 is only offered in specific terms. Please consult with the Graduate Supervisor, MPPA when planning your schedule.
