Alex MacLellan is a PhD in Public Policy student at Carleton University’s School of Public Policy and Administration. His research focus is how to leverage the social safety net to ensure the best economic outcomes for immigrants. He is guided in his research by Stanley Winer and Jennifer Stewart. Alex was inspired to pursue this topic by his two experiences observing international development projects in several countries in sub-Saharan Africa. In addition, Alex has been helping the Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization with their English as a secondary language instruction since 2018. Alex is originally from Cape Breton and likes to exercise and practice martial arts.
