Senate Visioning Session
The Project Lead led a visioning session for Senate members to help inform Towards Carleton@100. Using a scenario-based design approach, participants explored the future of higher education across three horizons: current realities (2025), pivotal shifts (2030) and long-term aspirations (2042). Discussions focused on six key themes: the higher education sector, teaching and learning, research and creative practice, financial sustainability, student experience, and technology and AI.
A central theme emerged throughout the session: the need to move from a transactional model of higher education to a more relational, human-centred model grounded in belonging, lifelong learning, intellectual development and public impact. The session highlighted opportunities to strengthen Carleton’s distinct identity, enhance research visibility, modernize academic and governance processes, and ensure technological innovation remains aligned with academic integrity and human judgment.
