What could the university experience look like in 2042? That was the question explored by 60 SHAD Carleton participants as part of the Towards Carleton@100 strategic visioning process.

During a design thinking workshop led by Rick Colbourne, Towards Carleton@100 project lead, students worked in teams to imagine the future of higher education and explore how Carleton could become a global leader by 2042. They considered how the university could deliver exceptional student experiences, advance education, research and innovation and become a leader in sustainability.

Using design thinking, storytelling and creative problem-solving, students developed ideas from the perspective of the next generation of university students. Their perspectives offered valuable insight into the expectations and aspirations that could shape Carleton’s future.
