Hassan Bashir
Assistant Professor (Global and International Studies)
Hassan Bashir is an Assistant Professor specializing in political theory and international relations. He holds a PhD from Texas A&M University and has developed a research program focused on intercultural political thought and global ethics.
His research examines the formation of political frameworks through interactions between the West and its broadly defined cultural others, contributing to comparative political theory. He explores civilizational framing in historical and contemporary contexts as well as ethical issues in a globalized world, with particular attention to non-Western traditions. His work also addresses the moral challenges faced by engineers in a global profession, including tensions between local development priorities and broader global responsibilities.
More recently, his research has turned to the ethics and politics of the environment and sustainability, with a focus on environmentalism in the Global South. This work investigates identity formation and climate change adaptability within complex political, social and economic conditions.
Through his research and teaching, Bashir contributes to advancing critical perspectives on global ethics, intercultural dialogue and sustainability in contemporary political thought.
