James Moretton

Director (Awards and Financial Aid Office)

James Moretton is Director of Awards and Financial Aid at Carleton University. Over more than two decades at Carleton, he has held a variety of positions across student services, including roles in Finance, the Undergraduate Registrar’s Office and Student Systems Support.  

Moretton’s professional expertise spans student systems, policy development, operational leadership and service improvement initiatives that support student success and enrolment operations. Throughout his career, Moretton has led and contributed to major institutional projects involving academic audit processes, registration systems, financial aid administration and the modernization of student information systems.  

With extensive experience working across administrative and student-facing units, he brings a comprehensive understanding of the systems, policies and processes that shape the student journey. Moretton’s work is centred on improving service delivery, enhancing operational effectiveness and supporting equitable access to financial assistance and academic services.  

Moretton contributes valuable expertise on student supports, institutional operations and service improvement that helps advance initiatives focused on student success and the overall student experience.
