CUAG won an award for Annie Thibault’s La chambre des cultures, foraging in time and space

The 2018 Ontario Association of Art Galleries Awards ceremony took place in Toronto on Monday 19 November 2018, where CUAG and Annie Thibault were thrilled received the award.

The “Exhibition of the Year (budget under $20,000, monographic)” award was given to the exhibition Annie Thibault: La chambre des cultures, foraging in time and space, curated by Heather Anderson and presented at CUAG in fall 2017.

This was CUAG’s first time to embed an artist in a science department at Carleton. Curator Heather Anderson proposed a yearlong residency for Annie Thibault to Dr. Myron Smith, an internationally renowned mycologist. He enthusiastically agreed.

Thibault activated the gallery as a hybrid laboratory, studio and curiosity cabinet, presenting the results of her year-long experiments in Carleton University’s biology labs.
