My Carleton Experience: I had such an incredible time at Carleton. Not only I met amazing people that are an important part of my life, but I also acquired such valuable knowledge. I came to Canada 5 years ago with the dream of studying Science and every experience at Carleton has gone beyond my expectations. I have made friends for life and also, I have met inspiring mentors and professors that have supported me throughout my whole university journey.
If I want to highlight some of my best experiences at Carleton, I have to start with the first-year orientation. Where I got to meet people from all faculties. Then, a trip to India with Carleton which allowed me to learn more about the business and culture of India. Subsequently, being part of the Science Student Success Centre and the Carleton Science Student Society was such a fulfilling and incredible part of my program. Furthermore, I am so thankful for having the amazing opportunities to be part of co-op positions that have helped me develop important skills for my career development. Also, I had the opportunity to meet an amazing mentor within the Alumni Mentors Program and thanks to her, I have learned so much about all the different paths I can take. Finally, despite the pandemic, I had the most amazing honours thesis project, supervisor and professor. I learned so much from it and I had so much fun working on it in the lab. This is just a list of a few highlights of my experience but telling each one of them could take me a whole book to write.
My Goals for the Future: My main goal for the future is to make the world a better place through Science. I am unsure yet how I will reach that, but I feel that each experience in my life is a step towards that goal. I love research and science communication, so I hope that what my next step involves that. Still, one of the best piece of advice a professor at Carleton told me is: To always be open to different opportunities and that paths may always change but keep in mind your mail goal and what will make you happy in life.
