Master of Cognitive Science Program (M.Cog.Sc.)

General Notes on the Program Requirements

The program requirements are customized for each student entering the program. However, students are required to do 2.5 credits of coursework; the remaining 2.5 credits correspond to the thesis (In the Carleton system, a credit is a full-year, two-semester course or equivalent, and a half-credit is a one-semester course.) This flexibility allows us to accommodate entrants with a wide range of skills and experience. Many of our students have Bachelor Hons. degrees from a cognitive discipline. More on program requirements.

Guidelines for Completion of the M.Cog.Sc. Degree

The degree is expected to take no more than six(6) terms to complete. Students will enroll in courses while also conducting research. While all students will take some core courses, the specific balance of the remaining credits (coursework and research) will vary by student. Credit selection will be determined in consultation with the student’s Thesis/Research Project Supervisor and Graduate Supervisor.
