Undergraduate Studies
We offer two undergraduate options. The Bachelor of Cognitive Science (B.Cog.Sc.) and the Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Cognitive Science (PBD), which is for students who already have an undergraduate degree.
Undergraduate Programs
Bachelor of Cognitive Science (B.Cog.Sc.)
The Bachelor of Cognitive Science (B.Cog.Sc.) is intended for students who do not already have an undergraduate degree. There are two paths. The 15-degree and the more comprehensive honours degree.
Stream in AI and Modelling
With the demand for AI surging in many professions, understanding how AI works and how to use it effectively is more important than ever.
The stream in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Modelling has limited enrolment and is restricted to students registered in the B.Cog.Sc. or B.Cog. Sc. (Honours) programs and have attained 3rd year standing with a Major CGPA of 8.00+. Departmental approval is required.
Post Baccalaureate Diploma (PBD) in Cognitive Science
The PBD in Cognitive Science is designed for students who already have an undergraduate degree but want to learn about cognitive science and gain research experience in the field. The PBD is also an option for students who are interested in pursuing graduate work in Cognitive Science at the Master’s level, but whose undergraduate degree did not include any research experience or who may not have a high enough GPA to enter the M.Cog.Sc. program directly.
Minor in Cognitive Science
Minors are open to undergraduate students in programs other than Cognitive Science. Our 4-credit Minor will further your understanding of how humans, animals and machines think. Our integrated approach combines insights from AI, psychology, philosophy, linguistics and cognitive neuroscience. Students are required to present a Minor CGPA of 4.00 or higher at graduation in order to be awarded a Minor in Cognitive Science.
Carleton Cognitive Science Student Association
There is an active club for undergraduate students. You can learn more about the Carleton Cognitive Science Student Association (CSSA).
