Earlier this week Krista Zawadski, PhD student in Cultural Mediations, received the Inuit Cultural Repatriation Award from the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami at their Annual General Meeting in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. This award is presented to an organization or an individual who demonstrates leadership in recognizing and respecting Inuit cultural rights and works to overcome the misappropriation of Inuit cultural heritage.

The Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) is the national representational organization protecting and advancing the rights and interests of Inuit in Canada and they serve as a national voice protecting and advancing the rights and interests of Inuit in Canada.
