Business Continuity Awareness Week is May 15 to 19 and this year’s theme is “Embracing the Challenge of Resilience.” Embrace the challenge by preparing for unexpected disruptions, anticipating potential risks, creating contingency plans, and implementing safeguards to protect your day-to-day operations. In addition to the overall theme for the week, each day of the week has a focused resilience theme. We want to leave you with some tips to mark each day:

May 15: Cyber Resilience

Stay vigilant online. Protect sensitive information by using strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, and being cautious of phishing emails or suspicious websites. Regularly update your devices and software to ensure they have the latest security patches. Remember, your cyber resilience is key to safeguarding both your personal and professional digital presence.

May 16: Supply Chain Resilience

Be proactive in understanding supply chain processes. Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to identify potential vulnerabilities and develop contingency plans. Stay informed about any disruptions or changes that may impact the supply chain. By staying vigilant and adaptable, you can help ensure the smooth functioning of the supply chain and minimize disruptions.

May 17: Operational Resilience

Embrace a proactive approach to operational resilience. Familiarize yourself with your unit’s critical processes, systems, and dependencies. Continuously assess risks, identify potential weaknesses, and propose improvements. Cultivate a culture of adaptability and preparedness within your team. By actively contributing to operational resilience, you can enhance efficiency, mitigate risks, and maintain business continuity.

May 18: Personal Resilience

Take care of your well-being. Prioritize self-care, maintain a healthy work-life balance, and seek support when needed. Practice mindfulness techniques to manage stress effectively. Build strong relationships with colleagues, fostering a supportive work environment.

May 19: Organizational Resilience

Be an agent of change and contribute to organizational resilience. Embrace a growth mindset and a willingness to adapt. Actively participate in organizational initiatives such as training programs, risk assessments, and contingency planning. Foster open communication, collaboration, and knowledge sharing within your team and across departments. By actively engaging in building organizational resilience, you contribute to the long-term success and sustainability of Carleton.
