Description

Join us for an office tour of Trend Micro’s office in Kanata where you’ll get a snapshot of what it’s like to work for a global cybersecurity leader. The afternoon will start with an Industry Talk where women students will learn what skills and tools engineering and information technology graduates should know when entering the workforce. Then they will be split up into groups of two and lead through a facilitated tour of Trend Micro’s office, where they will see where employees work and collaborate on projects and some special in-office perks.

Transportation by school bus from Carleton’s campus to Trend Micro and back will be provided. A pizza lunch will be provided. 

*BONUS*: Everyone who attends the event will receive a Carleton University sweater. We have space for 45 attendees.



Who can attend the event?

We encourage women from all backgrounds and identities to join this event, especially women students in a Carleton University Bachelor, Master’s or Doctoral program, of: engineering, IT, applied science, computer science, mathematics, or physics. Speakers & Tour Guides

Debbie Ng, Director, Global References

Debbie Ng has been a Trender for 10 years, passionately working in her dream job as Director, Global References where she is leads an incredibly talented team that focuses on connecting and engaging with global customers to participate in sales and marketing activities. A communicator and connector at heart, she enjoys learning about different people, cultures and brings these stories to life in the work she does. Some of the customers she works with include Panasonic North America, City of Oshawa, MedImpact, Pizza Pizza and more. Trained as a journalist – she is a graduate of Carleton University’s Journalism and Mass Communication Program. She uses her investigative and writing skills every day to tell the stories that help to build the “Trend Micro” brand and leverage the Human Connection. As an Ottawan, she loves to snowboard in the winter, skate with her two boys, and travel the world.


Rong Yang, Software Developer

Rong Yang is a software developer at Trend Micro on their container security team. Rang studied computer and electrical engineering at Queen’s University and received her master’s degree in electrical engineering. She finished her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in her hometown Shanghai, China in 2018.

Rong has been with Trend Micro since May 2021 and she has enjoyed the experience. She received the opportunity to explore various technologies that were new to her and as a result, has expanded her knowledge on software development and cloud security. Trend Micro is currently focused on Cloud Native Security for Kubernetes, containers and serverless. This excites Rong because she know that every piece of code she has written and every idea she has come up with has a positive benefit on the many people it will serve.
