Program Pathways
The Engineering Practice program offers three study pathways:
Conventional
Students will take three courses per term, one from each of Categories 1, 2, and 3, during the first three terms. In the final term, they will take one last course.
Accelerated
Students will take three courses in the first term, one from each of Categories 1, 2, and 3. In the second or third term, they will take an additional three or four courses to complete the program requirements.
To qualify for this program, students must meet the following requirements:
- you have completed at least one term of study
- you have completed three courses (1.5 credits) in your most recent term
- you have at least B+ in your EGEN course(s) and an A- in your ECMP course(s); your GPA is at least 9.0 (equivalent to 1 B+ and 2 A- grades)
- you have maintained continuous full-time registration (without academic breaks)
- you have obtained the Program’s permission
Co-op
Coop can be completed in three years (six terms). It blends traditional classroom learning with hands-on industrial experience. Students opting for Co-op will alternate between study terms at Carleton with four or eight month work terms, providing them with a distinct advantage in the job market upon graduation.
