On November 25, 2021 from 2:30 – 3:30pm (Ottawa) on the EURUS Zoom, The Institute of European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies invites you to a roundtable discussion in honour of Professor Oleh Havrylyshyn.
Dr. Oleh Havrylyshyn was a leading expert on international economics, development, and the transition process in Central and Eastern Europe, with a particular focus on Ukraine. His prolific scholarly career was enriched by his important role in public life where he held numerous advisory and consultative positions with government agencies and international organizations. Dr. Havrylyshyn passed away on September 20, 2020.
Dr. Havrylyshyn joined EURUS (Carleton University) as an Adjunct Research Professor in 2018. We were fortunate to have the benefit of Dr. Havrylyshyn’s active participation in EURUS activities; we greatly valued his kind heart and wise insights. He will be greatly missed. Let his publications and ideas inspire a new generation of scholars.
The roundtable discussion will focus on his most recent publications: Present at the Transition: An Inside Look at the Role of History, Politics, and Personalities in Post-Communist Countries (Cambridge University Press, 2020); and The Palgrave Handbook of Comparative Economics, co-edited with Prof. Elodie Douarin (2021).
