History Professor Jennifer Evans was elected on Tuesday, Sept. 13 to the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists, an honour that recognizes academics who have achieved a high level of excellence in their work at an early point in their careers.
Evans expressed her thanks for the honour: “It demonstrates a commitment to sexuality studies as a way to think about family formation, human rights and the history of emotions and desire.”
Her research is focused on contemporary German and European history, the history of sexuality and historical subjectivity. Evans has previously been awarded numerous grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, including a 2013-2015 Insight Grant for her project Photography and the Sexual Revolution. Evans’ first book, Life Among the Ruins: Cityscape and Sexuality in Cold War Berlin, was published in 2011. For more information, visit Carleton's newsroom.
