In the middle of a global pandemic, my family and I packed our bags and headed to Aotearoa New Zealand  to work, live, play and learn from a different white settler state.  While there, I used critical race theories and methodologies to think through the Voice of Racism educational campaign.  Join me, for a conversation of lessons learned thinking through race, Indigeneity and Pākehā/white settler nationhood during this year abroad.

Dr. Manjeet Birk (she/her) is an interdisciplinary scholar whose research focuses on women’s organizing, social justice and institutional racism using critical race, intersectional and decolonizing theories and methodologies. Her interests are grounded in her community activism working with women’s organizations locally, nationally and internationally. With a lifetime of experience organizing, troubling and challenging systems, Dr. Birk is always looking for new ways to re-conceptualize a more beautiful world.
