Contract Instructor Opportunities
DGES invites applications from members of the CUPE 4600 (Unit 2) bargaining unit and other interested persons to teach courses in Geography (GEOG), Environmental Studies (ENST) or Geomatics (GEOM), as a contract instructor (CI) during the Fall 2026-Winter 2027 academic year.

The current CUPE 4600 (Unit 2) Collective agreement can be found on Carleton University’s Academic Staff Agreements webpage.
Stipends for the 2026-2027 Academic year:
$18,508 for full credit courses (1.0) and $9,255 for half credit courses (0.5)
*Please note all the courses listed below are 0.5 half credit courses.
Scheduling: The modality of these courses is determined by the University (in-person, online, or hybrid). Detailed course scheduling is not known currently. Applicants will be notified of the timing of the course when presented with an offer to teach.
All positions are subject to budgetary approval. Advertisement is not a guarantee that a particular course will be offered.
TA Support: Please note that anticipated TA support is based on anticipated enrollment and may change based on actual enrollment in a course.
Pre-Posting Hiring Decision: The following course has been assigned to graduate students, post-doctoral fellows or visiting scholars. These courses are not open for applications but the department will contact the most senior incumbent to review their right under Article 17.6 of the CUPE 4600 (Unit 2) Collective Agreement.
