Alison Perrin
I am currently a doctoral student in the Department of Geography under the supervision of Dr. Gita Ljubicic. My research interests lie in climate change impacts and adaptations, science-policy in the North, and human-environment relationships. My graduate research focuses on research policy for Canada’s North, examining barriers and enablers to northern participation in research processes. I hope to identify how research can better address northern priorities and enhance regional capacity to make evidence-based policies.
I live in the Yukon and work at the Yukon Research Centre, based in Yukon College, where I conduct and coordinate research on climate change adaptation related to traditional land use, mining, and infrastructure. I earned a Master of Arts in Environmental Education and Communications at Royal Roads University where my research focused on how experiential outdoor education and immersive experiences in nature influence the development of an environmental ethic.
