I am an MA student working with Dr. Pablo Mendez. My research is focused on low-carbon mobility, urban design, and travel behaviour.
After completing my BA in Communication Studies and English with a minor in Geography at Wilfrid Laurier University, I spent more than a decade planning major events including the 2013 World Figure Skating Championships and the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. When I became a parent my concern about climate change amplified. It also reinvigorated my interest in urban design and mobility as I found cities were not child or parent-friendly. I want to learn more about how we can address these issues together which led me to geography. My research will use Ottawa as a case study and examine how the city’s concept of 15-Minute Neighbourhoods impacts low-carbon travel choices.
