I am a M.A. student working under Dr. Fraser Taylor with a background in International Development and GIS. My research focuses on the potential for traditional practices and e-governance to improve pasture management in Kyrgyzstan. My team travels to mountainous towns and gives training to herders and their children on how they can map their traditional management practices. I then implement an open-access web atlas that visualizes this data and allows our participants and policymakers to discuss possible adjustments.
As a Chinese-Canadian who speaks French and Russian, my passion is to promote pluralism through geospatial visualizations. Prior to Carleton, I was a GIS and Knowledge Management consultant with the University of Central Asia in Kyrgyzstan. I have also worked with governmental and international development agencies in Tajikistan and Nepal. Away from my research, I enjoy Latin dance and am a bronze medallist at the 2014 Pan-American Wushu Championship in Costa Rica.
