Student Testimonials
-
“There was an exchange student counsellor who could help with exchange student-specific problems, such as adjustments to the environment. There were WhatsApp group chats attached to clubs to keep people posted on upcoming dates. The Radboud exchange students’ Instagram was very great at informing me and others about the ongoing and upcoming activities at the university as well as the city.” – Full Year 2024/2025, Bachelor of Arts Psychology

“The teaching style was similar to that of the Carleton course, however most course evaluations ended on one exam worth a hundred percent of the pass/fail of a course. This was an adjustment. On the other hand, there was a possible resit for each failed course. This was cool and unexpected but it only sometimes made a difference as the resists were quite prompt after the original exams (in the last semester). The other periods had much longer waiting times for the resits.” – Full Year 2024/2025, Bachelor of Arts Psychology

“I chose to live in Hoogevelt, a residence style building of the SSH company. This was a good choice in the long run, I was close to the university, in a private room with a shared kitchen. It was very easy to find friends and have like minded exchange/erasmus students to explore the city and country with.” – Full Year 2024/2025, Bachelor of Arts Psychology

“While setting up a bank account, I encountered many difficulties. I opened a Dutch bank account, but based on it’s persistent challenges and lack of customer support at the bank, I relied heavily on my Canadian account. I was provided with a local SIM card upon my arrival at the university. I received it with my welcome package, which just meant I had to swap the physical SIMs and reload on the associated app as required.” – Full Year 2024/2025, Bachelor of Arts Psychology

“The national trains (NS) have a group ticket discount rate, the more people you travel with the bigger the discount.
Ordering a personalized card for NS travel subscriptions is a good idea if you plan on travelling a lot on your own. On daily travel: Get a bike, and DO NOT cheap out on a lock. Get a cheap bike, not a cheap lock.
Must-See Places:
Zaanse Schans, Zaandam – Dutch FairyTale Village, cute houses, animals, windmills galore.
Utrecht – Full of art, cafes, a smaller, more intimate version of Amsterdam.
Nijmegen – Oldest city of the Netherlands, a square full of beautiful buildings, history, student city
with a lively city centre.
Maastricht – Especially for Carnival, unlike anything I’ve been to before, the Dutch love to party on
their select holidays.
Book Store Dominicanen, Maastricht – Huge old church converted into a bookstore.” – Full Year 2024/2025, Bachelor of Arts Psychology
