Student Testimonials

“MBS has a small, tight-knit campus community, which means services are available but may feel different compared to larger institutions. The Bachelors Office was accessible to both exchange and local students for academic queries. While I didn’t see many formal volunteer activities, the club scene was active and engaging. There’s La Sauce (a cooking club), Gaïa (wellness-focused), World Connections (geared toward international students), and many more. I joined Montpellier’s Treasures (MT), the school’s fashion club! It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with local students and practice my French in a fun, creative setting.” – Full Year 2024/2025, Bachelor of International Business
“There were a few opportunities to get involved with on campus such as international day or the Orientation they set up for us where we got to play different games.” – Full Year 2022/2023, Bachelor of Commerce

“Instead of choosing your classes, the school provides you with a pre-set schedule. From there, you can choose to drop specific courses, but options are limited and not as flexible as at Carleton. I recommend future students plan ahead and consult with their academic advisor early to ensure course compatibility. The teaching style, however, involved a lot of repetition and reinforcement across different classes, so don’t be surprised if you encounter the same concepts more than once! Group projects make up a significant portion of your grade (often 50%), with the other 50% coming from a final assessment. One thing I appreciated was staying with the same group of classmates throughout the semester, which made it easy to build strong connections.” – Full Year 2024/2025, Bachelor of International Business
“Typically 20-30 students, and it was much easier to know your professors and for them to know you. Class engagement was also higher due to the smaller classroom sizes.” – Full Year 2022/2023, Bachelor of Commerce

“I lived in my own loft, which was genuinely one of the best decisions I made. The space was fully furnished, had its own kitchen and a terrace, and all my neighbors were students. I found my accommodation through Studapart, a platform partnered with MBS. However, the housing search was a bit tricky. A lot of student accommodations were already booked, and some spots are reserved for EU or co-op students. Start your search early. Don’t hesitate to send multiple inquiries or applications.” – Full Year 2024/2025, Bachelor of International Business
“I lived in a shared apartment with 3 other people, 2 of which were also students but at other universities. I was very happy with my decision.” – Full Year 2022/2023, Bachelor of Commerce

“I used Revolut, a free online bank that most students in France recommended. All you need is a copy of your visa and proof of residence, and you’re good to go. For my phone, I set up a French number through Connectivity before I even left Canada. It’s super easy: you just pay for your plan in advance, download the eSIM, and schedule the activation date to start once you land.” – Full Year 2024/2025, Bachelor of International Business
“I set up my phone through research online then going into one of their stores and speaking an employee who set me up with the best plan for what I needed to have.” – Full Year 2022/2023, Bachelor of Commerce

“One of the most surprising (and life-changing) discoveries for me was just how close Montpellier is to several mountain ranges. If you love nature or want to try something new, go hiking – you won’t regret it! As for local gems, there’s so much to explore right in and around the city: Château de Flaugergues (a local vineyard and estate just outside the city center); Place de la Comédie; Zoo de Lunaret (free); Planet Ocean; La Grande Motte (stunning beach town just a short trip away); Patinoire Vegapolis; Les Arceaux (picturesque aqueduct arches and farmers market); Arc de Triomphe; Odysseum (an open-air shopping and entertainment hub); Musée Fabre.” – Full Year 2024/2025, Bachelor of International Business
“It’s hard to give must-see places because there are so many different and unique places, but when travelling, immerse yourself in their culture. Whether it is their food, past times or events like a football match, there is always something new. Although 1 country I would recommend is Morocco as it is very unique and amazing.” – Full Year 2022/2023, Bachelor of Commerce
